Medicare Part A coverage includes hospital care, skilled nursing facility care, nursing home care, home health care, and hospice care. If the doctor determines you need an inpatient hospital stay, you must meet your deductible of $1,288. This deductible covers a stay that is between one to sixty days long. This deductible must be met every benefit period. A hospital stay that is longer has another deductible. If you must stay between sixty to ninety days, you must pay $322 per day coinsurance. For each day beyond day 91, you must pay a coinsurance rate of $644 per lifetime reserve day. An individual only has sixty lifetime reserve days over the course of their lifetime.
This coverage also pays for Durable Medical Equipment ordered by a physician. The Medicare beneficiary will be responsible for 20% of the costs for the Durable Medical Equipment.
